Starting in mid 2006 DTS has been working on a new data recorder platform we call the
ER, for embedded recorder. |

Until recently our
development needed to be kept confidential due to our customer’s
use in Army combat helmets. The Army has recently made their program
public and you can read a news report at: http://www.military.com/features/0,15240,159591,00.html

ER started as an
SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) program with Wright Patterson
AFRL. The purpose was to investigate the feasibility of a helmet
mounted shock measurement device. |

In 2007, in cooperation
with BAE Systems, DTS used the ER platform to create HEADS (Headborne
Energy Analysis and Diagnosis System). HEADS was created to monitor
3 axis of acceleration and over-pressure on an Army helmet to try
to better understand traumatic brain injury (TBI).
